Getting Back on the Journey

As we approach the end of summer, I find myself slowly getting back from a necessary “sabbatical” from my composing activities. It was important to bring closure to several open situations including physical and mental health care, a professional retirement, a divorce from a long marriage, relocation, etc. My main growth in these last six years was a journey to discover myself and my personal psychological awareness and my musical skills as a composer. Today, I’m very happy to be getting back to that journey.

My current composing focus is on two “love” songs, one that is from Kai’s play and another new one for which I just wrote lyrics, a chorus and three verses, this morning. On the song from the play, I am developing the song’s structure and harmonies this week. I do love my work. I ran into a friend while shopping this past weekend. We sang together in our past. She reassured me that this work has been my dream. I was very happy to reconnect.

Musical connections are very important to me. I’m happy to be preparing for a singing rehearsal tonight. I love getting together to sing.  My voice is in good shape for my age, a definite blessing. My place is a good place to develop new music, and my days are peaceful and purposeful as a composer.

I have made a conscious decision over these past two years to minimize my marketing efforts with a focus to maintain a viable website to showcase my composing work along with my composing efforts themselves. It was necessary with my circumstances. But as I get back on track, I appreciate receiving feedback about my website especially anything that may not be functioning correctly. Recently, I received some of that feedback and found that I need to stop direct comments submitted to my blog posts, due to potential of bad links being commented on my blog posts.
