Current Projects

Musical Theater
As I launch this website, the primary project on my plate is to finish composing the remaining songs in Kai Cofer's play, The Process. I hope you enjoy the first songs from this play now available in the Alphasongs Catalog. I will be introducing you to Kai in the Alphasongs Blog on the “Sharing thoughts” tab on my Home page as this and other theatre projects progress. Kai is a prolific playwright and lyricist, having written well over a hundred theatrical and film scripts in Los Angeles.

Come My Way
This is a new five-part song that became a fun story-telling game as well. The rules of the game are part of the musical score registered under copyright, so when you order the score, you will also receive the game rules, which the free perusal score does not include. I am also hoping to further develop and distribute Come My Way as a standalone game.

“Composing Games”
In addition to Come My Way, which is both a song and a game, I have an emerging series of songs that involve some kind of musical constraint in the composition. It is a kind of a game to me to write a song that has some musical pattern of constraint that persists in the composition.
The first of these was Driving Around and Round Again, which is composed around a repeating four-bar phrase in the tenor and baritone parts. Another song introduced last year in this group is Skip On the Crazy Side. In this song, the title of the song is sung in a specific rhythm in one or more of the five parts in almost measure.
The newest song in this series is Sing it Forward, which also includes some optional theatrics based on passing a baton between various singers (think a musical “relay”). In this song, the baton passing is defined by the persistent presence of one note (F-natural) in every single beat of the song among one or more of four voice parts of the song.

Future Projects
I intend to continue composing and publishing music for the rest of my life. This work is my dream. So, to that end:
Musical Theatre
Finishing The Process. This work is committed and under contract. And Kai and I are talking about other projects after this one

Commissions
After I finish my work with Kai, I will begin accepting commissions for new a cappella works. (Note that I am not accepting commissions for accompanied work at this time, but I hope to in the future.
Working with Lyricists
If you are a lyricist interested in having your work set to my style of a cappella music and you have a professional track record of published work that I can review, I would consider the possibility of working together, assuming my musical style appeals to you as well. Just get in contact with me and tell me about yourself and your work.

My Own Projects
I want to continue creating "Composing Game" songs and establish a publishing series for the Composing Games. I also hope to create a "Trios" series of purely three-part a cappella harmonies and perhaps work with holiday or sacred genres as well. I know I'll have plenty to keep me busy and nothing makes me happier. I consider it a blessing to be able to do this work.

Instrumental Arrangements
I frequently enjoy listening to playback of my vocal works with instruments instead of voices. I have already published these audio files on SoundCloud and will continue to do so. I will be updating these in the coming weeks. And I would consider requests to create scores for an instrumental arrangement of my songs. You can listen to some of these below or on SoundCloud.
